October 28-- Holy Crap!

Well, there isn't really much to say. I'm not sure an adjectve exists for the Redskins performance in New England, so I won't try to come up with one..

Injuries: CB Carlos Rogers scheduled to have an MRI today, he suffered damage to the MCL in his right knee, fear of an issue with his ACL.. If he tore the MCL, he'll miss a month minimum, if he tore the ACL, he'll miss the rest of the season. I'm expecting them to say he'll be out for some period of time..
LB HB Blades, sprained knee, returned to the game..
RB Clinton Portis, bruised hand, returned to the game
LB Rocky McIntosh, shoulder burner, did not return, this has ben a recurring problem for McIntosh where he appears to lose some feeling in his arm, so my guess is maybe he has a pinched nerve, but that is just a guess.
S Vernon Fox, hip, will be re-evaluated today..

Did NE run up the score?: There were many different opinions on that from all levels of the organization. Joe Gibbs succintly said, "I have no problem with anything New England did today." Jason Campbell described the questions as one that is "hard to answer," so while suggesting he thought maybe going for it on a 4th down when you are already up 38 is a little much, he offered, "It's our job to stop them, in this league nobody is going to give you anything." T Todd Wade was certain that they ran up the score.. Others took the Campbell approach essentially believing that once the other team's back-ups are in, if you can't stop them, then, well...

There were no locker room or sideline incidents amongst the members of the Redskins, a good sign as the team has a big week ahead of them to try and prove this was a one week thing, against the best team in half-season history..

Issues with the Redskins headsets continued yesterday with intermittent issues between the coaching staff and the booth.. There were no sidleine to quarterback issues as there were in Philadelphia and Green Bay, but for long stretches of time, the Skins lost commuincation with the coaches in the booth.. The rule in the NFL is if you have just one of your lines working, then the other team is not forced to shut down any of their lines of communication..
After losing 52-7, Joe Gibbs said he didn't want to address the headset issues saying he didn't want it to come off an an excuse for the outcome..

CB Fred Smoot ws inactive, he re-injured a hamstring injury last week but was probable heading into the NE game.. LB Marcus Washington returned after missing to weeks wth a hamstring injury.. T Stephon Heyer was inactive for a second straight week, hamstring..

I'm a fairly newly-converted football fan, and there may be nuances to the game that make my belief on the matter a little ridiculous, but in my humble opinion...

if you really think they're running up the score, and I don't see how you could think anything else with that score and that dominating a performance, I think you have to send in a third-string defender to lay a cheap, late chopblock on Tom the Franchise. You have to use a page from the Hockey Goon handbook, or be inspired by Roger Clemens' headhunting adventures. Sure, you'd get a suspension and a fifteen-yard personal, but if you have your MVP quarterback going for it on fourth-and long in the fourth quarter up by forty, you know what? That deserves a torn MCL or two.

That is just my uneducated opinion, though. I don't think Brady & Bellichek would have gotten away with that sort of crap in any other sport. It's sad that the game was non-competitive, but respect for the game and respect for Joe Gibbs' gray hair demand that you ease off after a while.

I've been a skin fan for over 30 years and this is the worst game i have ever seen them play. I totally put this on the coaches. the redskins coaches play not to lose when they should be playing to go after teams and win the game. everyone in the universe knew that if the williams played that zone d that brady would light up the redskins and thats exactly what happened. Why is g. williams so afraid to play man to man with his secondary and blitz like he used to. These are pro corners and thats what they are paid to do, cover guys, make them earn their money and make your d an attack d, not a sit back and wait d. the redskins wont go anywhere untill gibbs quits being a sissy and starts taking some chances. when you play not to lose you normally end up losing

The cheap shot theory was something someone else was talking to me about, and I'm kind of buying into it..
There was reason for an on field fight, it didn't happen..

Thanks for answering :)

I think it would have caused a big fight, and if it had taken Brady out for a few games, it would have been the most controversial thing done in the new Gibbs era. I also think no one would have considered the Redskins cheap or dirty for doing it (well, no one outside of Boston, anyhow).

The Patriots are a dirty team. They've been publicly cited for cheating this year, and other coaches throughout the league seem to hold no real respect for their management. They've gone out of their way, I think, to don the black hats and act like the bad guys in every way possible -- running up the score was just the latest example.

People respect Bellichek for his smarts, and the team for their professional, tight-lipped interviews. But the coaching fraternity's mutual admiration society always seems to make an exception for the Pats; the word you always hear is "respect," and the word you never hear is "admire."

I think a cheap shot was called for. The Colts won't deliver one; they will try to win outright, but I can't see the Bills (after their bye week) holding back too much, and after them, the Eagles -- who will likely bring steel chairs out to the field, a la Ric Flair, if the Pats try something like that...

This is all a pile of crap. I am not a Pats fan, but Scoring is what football teams are supposed to do. If your team can't stop it that that's their problem. Fighting is BULL. Wanting to intentially hurt anyone is wrong. The Redskins and any other team that gets a beat down from any team should take it like a man and fix their own problems. GO COWBOYS.

It's cool that you feel that way and all, and I don't want to tell you how to run your life or anything, but shouldn't you be watching tennis?

Anyway, the Skins did take their beatdown honorably, without any of that dirty mean cheating that I as a hockey fan so enjoy, and the measure of the team will be in how well (or whether) they bounce back against the Jets. If they can have a short memory, maybe we can get a third game with the Clownboys in the playoffs this year, which I think everyone would enjoy.

Don't get me wrong, I am a football fan, not so much a hockey fan, my sister is though,(she lives in Philly, always at least one bad apple in a family :)). Anyway, I too love a good snot knocking brawl every now and then. But I'll bet you wouldn't find not one decent player in the entire league that would ever condone or take part in just trying to intentually hurt someone to get them out of a game or that could end a career. No one wants it to happen to them. I'm all for knocking someone's head off with a good clean hit, but there is no place in the mans sport for cheap shots!
Anyway, the Skins should be able to bounce back against a lowly team like the Jets, most teams have this year. I'll be honest with you, the only thing I hope for every year is that the Boys beat the Skins twice a year, all other wins are icing on the cake. I truly hope they beat the Skins as bad as the Pats did, only do it x2. GO Cowboys!
